Salesian College Year 9

This was the first project undertaken by McIldowie Partners for Salesian College in Sunbury. The Year 9 programme was to be developed by adapting 4 portable classrooms and a shearing shed to cater for 230 students in this expanding school.

Challenged by both time and cost, we undertook to factory build the new learning spaces prior to receiving planning approval and to coordinate 2 construction teams to achieve the new centre many months earlier than would have been possible with a traditional construction process. Links and deck areas join the new buildings with the refurbished shearing shed which retains all of its original character and is an evident reminder of the pastoral origins of the campus surrounds.
